"... many regard her as one of the great jazz singers of all-time." - Will Friedwald - New York SUN
Annie Ross was born into a family of touring Scottish vaudevillians and has been performing as long as she can remember. From her childhood appearances in film to her landmark composition "Twisted", as a founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, through her classic jazz recordings as well as roles in theatre and film over the last decades, Annie has long been a favorite of jazz listeners everywhere. She has sung alongside a who's who of jazz, including James Moody, Kenny Clarke, Milt Jackson, Harry Sweets Edison, the Count Basie band, Louis Armstrong, Gerry Mulligan, Art Farmer, Chet Baker and many more.
Currently Annie is appearing at venues in New York and in Europe, following the release of her latest CD, Let Me Sing. Recent performances include the Marbella Jazz Festival in Spain, a tour of Scotland, The Hollywood Bowl and ongoing weekly performances at The Metropolitan Room in Manhattan. She is also working on her autobiography, an eagerly awaited memoir to be published at a later date. Annie is a recipient of the prestigious NEA Jazz Masters Award for 2010 and was inducted into the ASCAP Jazz Wall of Fame in June 2009.
